Moonhorse is an independent imprint publishing literary fiction in English. We publish slowly, and we publish for slow readers. A small list, chosen carefully, each book earning its length, its silence, its attention.

We are particularly interested in writers who came to English from somewhere else, and in the kind of attention that produces. The language a writer arrives at is rarely the one they were born into. It is sharper, quieter, more considered. That distance, between a writer and the language they have chosen, is often where the best sentences come from.
